This paper focuses on how Wayne State University built a donor relations programme from the ground up. From figuring out where to start to determining how to best celebrate all levels of giving at an organisation, this paper provides examples that can be followed by organisations large and small.

Author's Biography
Leslie Carmona is the Director of Donor Relations at Wayne State University in Detroit. She has worked in philanthropy for over nine years and serves on the executive committee of the local Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) chapter. Prior to joining the Wayne State team, she raised funds for the Humane Society of Broward County, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and Michigan State University. A Michigan native, she graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 with a BA in sociology and completed her graduate work at Michigan State University.
