Abstract
This paper concerns the UK’s first combined offshore wind turbine blade factory and pre-assembly harbour. Building an enduring relationship with Government and stakeholders was essential to the success of this project. The author describes the site selection, transaction and planning approval process, and gives lessons for CRE functions involved in complex industrial projects.

Author's Biography
Shaun Cray is employed by Siemens Real Estate, the CRE arm of Siemens. He is General Manager for real estate and construction activities on the Hull project and has led the site selection and transactional aspects of the project since late 2010. Between 2010 and 2014, he was Head of Real Estate Strategy and Transaction Management for Siemens in north-west Europe before focusing on the Hull project full time in 2014. He has led real estate projects across the UK, north-west and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Russia and has worked for both Siemens and Honeywell. Shaun has been a Chartered Surveyor since 1993, holds a Masters degree in Corporate Real Estate from the University of Reading and a Bachelors degree in Urban Land Economics from Sheffield Hallam University.
