Abstract
Infrared technology is becoming more widely used as a fast, reliable and non-destructive test technique. Training is critical using infrared thermography to be able to interpret images correctly and to detect anomalies in construction. Before interpreting the readings the basic principles of measuring infrared radiation and the infrared radiation characteristics of the particular material being measured need to be understood. Both will affect the quality and value of the technology to client and thermographer.
