Abstract
While businesses and consumers see opportunity and efficiency in the billions of devices now connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), cybercriminals also see an opportunity in the vulnerabilities created with each connection. This paper outlines three things you need to understand in order to prevent a cyber physical attack in the digitally connected world. The paper also highlights best practices you can use to implement the right mix of policy, architecture, training and technology to keep your organisation secure.

Author's Biography
Bharat Mistry is Principal Security Strategist at Trend Micro and is responsible for advising Trend Micro’s largest UK customers on security transformation. Bharat has 20 years’ experience as an information security professional and has worked for Alcatel Lucent/Nokia, KCOM and Siemens. Prior to Trend Micro he held the position of security technologist in the CTO office for HP Enterprise Security Services. Bharat works with CISOs to understand risks, develop security strategies and enable business objectives. Bharat focuses on major global clients in the manufacturing, oil and gas, financial services, telecommunications and retail markets.
William (Bill) Malik is Vice President of Infrastructure Strategies at Trend Micro. Bill’s information technology career spans over four decades. Before joining Trend Micro, he was CTO of Waveset, an identity management vendor, from 2002 through its acquisition by Sun. Bill worked at Gartner for 12 years where he led the Information security service and the application integration and middleware service. He was a co-author of the Cobit version 3 standard. During his 12-year career at IBM Bill worked in MVS development, testing, and business planning. Bill started programming with the John Hancock Insurance company in 1974. He studied Mathematics at MIT.
