Abstract
The year 2019 is a critical one for thoughtful, multidisciplinary discussion on what cyber risk is and how to better enable its appropriate management. Effective board engagement and franchise management of cyber risk will require hard work and creativity; professionals from across companies’ revenue and non-revenue generating teams will need to proactively share expertise to make cyber relatable and understood in the context of their own company’s business growth and risk appetites. To benefit from these diverse perspectives, applying concepts from other areas of financial sector risk management to cyber is critical, particularly to develop more scalable and outcomes-based risk management and regulatory frameworks, public policy and supervisory techniques.

Author's Biography
Charlotte Branfield is Citi’s Global Head of Information Security Internal Standards and Cyber Advocacy, with overall responsibilities for the life cycle of Citi’s internal information security standards and policies, and a global, cross-franchise external engagement programme to strengthen and develop Citi’s relationships with the public sector and industry partners. In this role, Charlotte is also responsible for partnering with teams across Citi to support their understanding of cyber and data protection public policy, legislation and regulation, future trends and political developments. Prior to joining Citi, Charlotte had roles working with government partners and industry across the fields of financial crime and international trade and development.
