Tracking digital assets against script changes: A new paradigm for creative production
Abstract
This paper explores the challenges of modern production, where the creative process is no longer linear. Today’s dynamic workflows, with script and visual development in constant flux, often lead to logistical chaos, costly delays and creative friction due to version control issues. This new paradigm requires new technological foundation built on two principles: interoperability and ontology. Interoperability allows different software to exchange data seamlessly, while a shared ontology acts as a common language to define relationships between production artefacts and their digital assets. These would create a transparent ‘supply chain of custody’, tracking every asset’s history from start to finish.
