Abstract
This paper analyses the key role that archives play in the modern era, bringing the past into the present through expertise in film, metadata, archival processes and legacy editorial practices. The paper describes the unique processes undertaken to bring to life a previously created television show, which was previously only available on older technology, for a high-profile streaming distribution deal. The paper describes how dedicated professionals collaborated within a studio system to use their technical knowledge, workflow expertise and understanding of library history to remaster this historic television show. The paper details the challenges of identifying the correct elements, ensuring legal requirements were fulfilled, and demonstrates the number of people and elements required to translate these shows into new technology.
