How passenger preferences influence low-cost terminal development

Abstract

Culture may be defined as a population's behaviour, the beliefs and way of life that are passed down from one generation to the next. The existing models of low-cost terminals (LCTs) concentrate on cost efficiency without considering the influence of culture, which in turn influences the preferences of both business and leisure passengers. There is therefore a need to investigate alternative models for the provision of terminal facilities that take into consideration the influence of culture on development. This paper reviews the significance of alternative LCT models, taking into account passenger expectations and the provision of terminal facilities. The paper proposes a methodology for determining appropriate facilities for LCT development by taking into account the influence of passengers’ culture.
