Hello, I'm Rowena Hennigan, a lecturer in marketing at TU Dublin. This case study discusses research that was carried out in 2017 on the distance-learning element of the Ibec Global Graduates programme. This talk follows on from the talk that introduces the virtual learning environment or VLE for the programme.

As an introduction, let's look at who the main stakeholders are in the Ibec Global Graduates program. Ibec is the largest business and lobbying organisation in Ireland. In 1983, the program was established by Ibec in Ireland and originally called the Export Orientation Program. TU Dublin deliver the academic elements of the programme. Technological University Dublin was formerly known as DIT and changed its name in January of 2019 to TU Dublin. With origins as far back as 1887 in Ireland, TU Dublin now has more than 20,000 students registered on its courses. It has a long tradition of working with commercial organisations, and it is the largest third-level provider of continuing professional development and executive education programmes in Ireland.

The Ibec Global Graduates programme, or IGG, connects the best companies with the best and brightest graduates. There are hundreds of students currently in stream on the Ibec Global Graduates programme. They're carrying out company placements all around the world. The main goal of the programme is to build leadership capability amongst its participants, where both the student graduate on placement and the sponsor company benefit.
