The key objective of this series is to introduce GPCRs and discuss their mechanism of signalling and role in human health and disease. It will cover fundamental concepts and mechanisms by which receptors function and cause disease. This series will be of significant interest to undergraduates, graduates, academic and industry researchers, medics, physicians and senior scientists who are new to the field of GPCRs. It will also provide up-to-date knowledge for researchers already working in this area.
This series will have talks covering four major aspects. The first set of talks will discuss the discovery and the brief history of the field of GPCRs, the sequence features and classification of human GPCRs as well as the molecular signatures of the GPCR family. The second will cover the various effectors, interactors and mediators of GPCR signaling such as G proteins, arrestin, GRKs and other GPCR interacting proteins. The third will introduce basic concepts in the pharmacology of GPCRs, followed by molecular pharmacology of GPCR signalling. It will also cover the areas of biased signalling, polypharmacology, regulation of GPCR signalling and non-canonical mechanisms of GPCR signalling. The final set of talks will discuss the role of GPCRs in health and human disease and will cover a broad range of diseases including cancer.
