Biography

Elena Pasquale is a Professor at The Burnham Institute, California, USA and an Adjunct Professor in the Pathology Department at the University of California San Diego. She received a Ph.D. degree in biology from the University of Parma, Italy. After postdoctoral work at Cornell University and the University of California... read morein San Diego and a Research Assistant Professor position at the University of Parma, she joined The Burnham Institute in 1990. During her postdoctoral work, Elena Pasquale identified what at the time were novel receptor tyrosine kinases expressed in embryonic tissues, including FGF receptors and Eph receptors. Her current research interests are in elucidating the functions of Eph receptors and ephrins in the nervous system and in cancer pathogenesis using proteomic, biochemical, and cell biological approaches in conjunction with animal models.
