Biography

P. Gyan Kumar attended the Sawai Man Singh Medical College at Rajasthan University, and obtained M.B.,B.S. degree in 2001 before going on to earn a postgraduate M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) at the King George Medical University in Lucknow followed by further postdoctoral/postgraduate training in Neurology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate... read moreof Medical Sciences in Lucknow. He then completed his Neurology residency at the University of Missouri, Columbia, followed by a Vascular Neurology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also trained as a SPOTRIAS (Specialized Program of Translational Research in Acute Stroke) fellow. He now practises in the Department of Neurology, Division of Cerebrovascular Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona and currently heads the Transcranial Doppler laboratory. He possesses expertise in diagnosis and management of the cerebrovascular disorders, practising in inpatient, outpatient, as well as teleneurology/telestroke settings. In addition to board certification in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the ABPN (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology), he holds additional expertise in cerebrovascular Doppler through certification by the American Society of Neuroimaging (ASN). An active member of the stroke team, he is particularly interested in the cerebrovascular hemodynamic alterations in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes.
