Biography

Gina R Petroni, PhD has been involved in the design, analysis and monitoring of clinical and translational research for more than 25 years. As a faculty member at the University of Virginia since 1996 and as founding director of the Division of Translation Research and Applied Statistics she continues to... read moredesign, analyze and monitor clinical and laboratory studies. She is the statistical member on several DSMBs, which include institutional based networks, national based networks (NHLBI) and the ASCO foundation. She has served on the UVA School of Medicine Health Sciences Institutional Review Board; the Cancer Center Data & Safety Monitoring and Protocol Review Committees; and has been a reviewer for NCI & NIH either as a committee member or ad hoc, for fifteen years. Most recently, she serves as a statistical reviewer on the NCI Early Phase Central IRB. The proper design of clinical trials and analysis of clinical research are her primary areas of interest. As a mentor, she works with residents, fellows, new investigators, and new faculty on the proper design and analysis of clinical research.
