Dr. Holtzclaw’s program of research is centered on thermoregulatory responses of vulnerable patients that include persons experiencing cancer treatment and those living with HIV. Dr. Holtzclaw has a passion for patient-centered research to test interventions that make a difference in care. She has authored 45 publications on the topics of fever, shivering, hypothermia, thermoregulation, and thermal comfort and is best known for translational studies that draw on basic science concepts to develop clinical nursing interventions.
