Biography

Dr Simon Skalicky, (FRANZCO, BSc (Med), MPhil, MMed, MBBS (Hons 1)) is a glaucoma and cataract subspecialist Ophthalmologist practicing in Melbourne, Australia. He gained subspecialist expertise in the management of glaucoma and challenging cataract surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom, under the tutelage of Professor Keith Martin. He works... read moreat the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital and is actively involved in the training of medical students, registrars and fellows. An advocate of evidence-based best practice he has published over 35 articles in international journals and is a reviewer for several Ophthalmology journals. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and University of Melbourne. Dr Skalicky is actively involved in and passionate about teaching Ocular and Visual Physiology. He is a course co-ordinator for the Ocular Physiology course in the Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) Degree at Sydney University. He has published a textbook on the subject titled “Ocular and Visual Physiology; a Clinical Application” and is an examiner for Ocular Physiology for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
