Biography

U. Srinivasa Rangan holds the Luksic Chair Professorship in Global Studies at Babson College in the United States. He received his graduate degrees in economics and business from the London School of Economics, IMD, and Harvard University. His teaching, consulting, and research focus on competitive strategy, globalization, and alliances. His... read morecurrent research deals with the globalization of Indian, Chinese, and Brazilian companies and their use of acquisitions and alliances. After serving as a manager in industrial and international finance with the State Bank of India in India and England, Dr. Rangan held research and faculty positions at IMD, Harvard Business School, and Tulane University, where he received the Howard Wissner Award for Outstanding Teaching at the graduate school. At Babson, he was the first tenured faculty member to receive both the Deans’ Award for Teaching Excellence across all programs (executive, graduate, and undergraduate) and the Thomas Kennedy Award for Outstanding Teaching in graduate school. Dr. Rangan has been a consultant to as well as a designer and deliverer of executive programs for several companies and organizations in North America, Europe, and Asia. Dr. Rangan is the co-author of two books (Strategic Alliances: An Entrepreneurial Approach to Globalization, HBS Press, 1995 and Capital Rising, Palgrave Macmillan, 2010). Author of several best-selling case studies on global competition and strategic management, published by HBS, IMD, and Babson, Dr. Rangan has also published articles in academic journals. He has presented scholarly papers at academic conferences and has been a speaker at several practitioner-oriented conferences and forums. He is currently co-editing a book on globalization and emerging Asia.
