Biography

Dr. Fisher is Professor of Neurology and Director of the Stanford Epilepsy Center. He received his Ph.D. in the Neurosciences in 1976 and a M.D. in 1977, from Stanford University. He has served as Co-Director of the Epilepsy Program at Johns Hopkins and Chair of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute... read morein Phoenix. He has received research awards from the NIH, and many foundations. His peers named him to Best Doctors in America every year from 1996-2010. He has published 150 articles and 3 books. Dr. Fisher has served as President of the American Epilepsy Society, as Editor-in-Chief of Epilepsia and currently of Epilepsy.com, the world's most visited website about epilepsy. He has been on the Boards of the International League Against Epilepsy, the CURE Foundation, the Epilepsy Therapy Project, and the Epilepsy Foundation. Dr. Fisher's professional goal is to derive new treatments for seizures, particularly with medical devices.
