Biography

Thomas Beyer is a Professor of Physics of Medical Imaging at the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Beyer holds a PhD in physics and an MBA in innovation and Entrepreneurship. He is co-developer of the first combined PET/CT system worldwide and has a background in research and project management in... read moreboth academia and the imaging industry. Prior to joining the Medical University of Vienna, he worked for Timaq Medical Imaging, Philips Medical Systems and between 2008-2013 he operated a Zurich based consulting company providing expert advice on cross-modality imaging and applications. Thomas is a member of various national and international medical organizations, including a founding member of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) Physics Committee, founding board member of the European Society of Hybrid Imaging (ESHI) and past Head of the New Technology working group at the Association of Imaging Producers and Equipment Suppliers (AIPES). In 2018 Thomas was elected to be member of Class II (Medicine) of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
