Alison Weiss is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Cincinnati. She received her PhD from Stanford University in 1983 and carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Virginia. Research in her lab has focused on the interaction of bacterial virulence... read morefactors with immune defenses, with a strong emphasis on the role of bacterial toxins. Professor Weiss has had a longtime interest in the toxins produced by Bordetella pertussis, the causative agent of whooping cough.
