Biography

Iain Macdougall is a Consultant Nephrologist and Professor of Clinical Nephrology at King’s College Hospital in London, UK. He graduated in both medicine and pharmacology from the University of Glasgow, did a research fellowship in Cardiff, and completed his renal training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. He has led several... read morepivotal clinical trials that have shaped the management of CKD anaemia worldwide, and he has been involved as a work group member for both US and European Anaemia clinical practice guidelines, as well as the latest KDIGO Anemia clinical practice guideline. He was co-chair of the KDIGO Iron Controversies Conference in San Francisco in March 2014, he chairs the Anaemia Clinical Study Group of the UK Kidney Research Consortium, and he is currently lead investigator on a number of academic and commercial trials in CKD anaemia. He is a previous council member of the ERA-EDTA, and ex-president of the Royal Society of Medicine Section of Nephrology in the UK.
