Max Lafontan has been Assistant- and Associate-Professor of Physiology and Endocrinology at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France from 1970 to 1985. He joined the French Institute for Medical Research (Inserm) in 1985 as a Research Director and headed the Inserm Unit 317 from 1988 to 2003. His research interests... read morecovered the cellular and molecular regulation of lipolysis in fat cells with a special attention on human fat cells. Clinical studies were focused on the mechanisms involved in the physiological control of lipid mobilization in humans. Recent research interests concern the study of the interplay of adipocytes with various cell types composing the human adipose tissue.
