Biography

Frederick Lenz is a Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of Epilepsy Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University. He received his medical degree from the University of Toronto. Through his work, he has refined electrical monitoring techniques used in functional neurosurgery. Dr. Lenz’s research focuses on the electrical signals that the brain makes during normal function and during disease. He particularly focuses on diseases where electrical activity of the brain is known to be abnormal, such as epilepsy or tremor. He also studies brain activity related to sensations such as touch, cold, and pain and to the control of movement.
