Hello. My name is Gina Touch Mercer. I am a licensed psychologist and the Behavioral Sciences Curriculum Director at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. I welcome you to this talk on trauma-informed care for healthcare professionals and organizational leaders.

At the start of the series, I highlighted the six core domains of behavioral medicine, which include the impact of culture, history, society, and family on health and health behavior. The integration of mind and body in illness and health. The social determinants of health that impact brain-body connections. The methods, technologies and skills that promote health and healing. The quality of the patient-physician relationship, and the role of the physician and embodiment of professionalism. In this talk, I will address all six domains as I discuss the impact of trauma on the health of individuals, families, society, and systems, and methods to relieve and potentially reverse those impacts. You may have already heard of the trauma-informed care paradigm. Or this may be a complete paradigm shift in your practice, research lab, or healthcare organization. I hope you'll take away new insights, skills, and resources to enhance the health and well-being of those you serve.
