Technical Access and Viewing Information


  1. Onsite & Offsite Access & Authentication

    1. Access to the HST resource is IP validated. In order to obtain access the computer accessing the link to the collection must have an IP address within the IP range submitted to HST's account manager during the subscription registration process. No password is required as the IP alone is used to validate users' authenticity.

    3. For offsite access, a number of methods can be used which supply the remote access user with a submitted IP address, these include:

      1. Virtual Private Network (VPN)

      2. Windows Terminal Service (WTS)

      3. Dial-Up services

      4. Remote access proxies (i.e. EZproxy). Configuration information for EZproxy is available at http://www.usefulutilities.com/support/db/hstalks.html

      5. At present, Athens & Shibboleth are not supported.
