Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders:

History, Diagnosis, Neurobiology, Treatment and Outcome

    TARGET AUDIENCE

For all those wishing to be briefed on the fundamentals and the latest developments in the study and understanding of autism including, students at graduate level in psychology, medicine, social work, speech pathology, education, genetics, and neurobiology, educators and clinicians who work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders and researchers in the field as often they have a narrow area of focus/interest and the availability of a broader overview would be of great benefit.

    SERIES EDITOR(S)

Prof. Fred Volkmar - Yale University School of Medicine, USA

Fred Volkmar is the Irving B. Harris Professor of Child Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Psychology at Yale University School of Medicine and Director of the Child Study Center. His research has focused on understanding some aspects of the fundamental nature of autism. In particular his group is attempting to understand the nature of the social difficulties that are at the heart of autism and how these relate to the seemingly paradoxical oversensitivity to the non-social environment. A long standing interest has been in developing better guidelines to diagnosis of autism and related conditions.
