The Legacy of Drosophila Genetics - sample extracts available

The Legacy of Drosophila Genetics:

From 'defining the gene' to 'analyzing genome function'

    TARGET AUDIENCE

For all those wishing to be briefed on the latest developments in the study and understanding of Drosophila genetics including upper division undergraduate students majoring in biology, graduate students in biology, bioinformatics and biochemistry, and medical students, researchers in academic departments needing to be kept abreast of the latest developments in these areas and researchers in pharmaceutical companies investigating the genetic basis of disease.

    SERIES EDITOR(S)

Prof. Ethan Bier - Section of Cell and Developmental Biology, University of California, San Diego, USA

Ethan Bier’s laboratory at the University of California, San Diego studies the genetic control of development in Drosophila, focusing on how morphogen gradients establish cell fates along the dorsal-ventral axis and on how sharp lines form between adjacent territories of cells. His group is also interested in using fruit flies to study the mechanistic basis for human disease gene action. Dr. Bier received his undergraduate training at the University of California, San Diego, pursued his graduate work with Dr. Alan Maxam at Harvard Medical School, and then his postdoctoral studies with Drs. Lily and Yuh-Nung Jan at the University of California, San Francisco
