Biography

Carmen Rosa Presti earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Miami (UM) in 2012, became an advance practice registered nurse in 2007, and a registered nurse, working in the trauma intensive care unit, in 1999. She is an Associate Professor at UM’s School of Nursing and... read moreHealth Studies, teaching across the curriculum from the baccalaureate to the doctoral level, where she has received numerous awards for her expertise in teaching. She is a practicing Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at the Miami Transplant Institute/Jackson Memorial Hospital’s thoracic intensive care unit, managing patients on ECMO awaiting lung transplantation, the cardiovascular intensive care unit, managing patients on mechanical circulatory support devices awaiting heart transplantation, and in the surgical intensive care unit, managing postoperative liver, multivisceral, and kidney transplant patients. She is an international speaker on an array of topics from the care of patients with ECMO and hemodynamic monitoring, to novel teaching strategies.
