Biography

Dennis O. Flynn is Alexander R. Heron Distinguished Professor of Economics, University of the Pacific, Stockton, California. Prof. Flynn earned B.S. and M.S. Economics degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an Economics Ph.D. from the University of Utah. He has published over three score research articles, has authored/edited... read moreeleven volumes, and is co-General Editor of the seventeen-volume series, The Pacific World: Lands, Peoples and History of the Pacific, 1500-1900. Aldershot: Ashgate Variorum, 2001-2010. Recent books include A Price Theory of Monies: Evolving Lessons in Monetary History. Wetteren: Moneta 2009, and (with Arturo Giráldez), China and the Birth of Globalization in the 16th Century. Farnham, Surrey: Ashgate Variorum, 2010. He has been visiting faculty at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the London School of Economics, and lectures throughout the world.
